YoungChoreographers for 05/06 is Therese Einmo Jürgensen from Nordland, Eirihn Keüer from Finnmark, Gerd Kaisa Vorren from Tromsø and Ekatarina Nikitina from Nikkel in Russia.

The starting-point for these young choreographers this year has been to create a solo where they are both the choreographer and dancer. This is an extremely difficult task, but this way of working is the reality for so many dance artists today. During DanceFestival Barents the choreographers will present their work-in-progress.de er kommet i prosessen.

Background for the YoungChoreographer project:
"Through the project YoungChoreographer Stellaris DanceTheatre / Solveig Leinan-Hermo wants to create time and space for more dance artists to make their ideas a reality. A number of choreographers have continued the work created in this project, presenting performances and touring, whether it has been under Stellaris or in conjunction with other companies or festivals.
Besides from the cultural political aspects of YoungChoreographer project, it is important to emphasise that these projects also can function as a workspace. This workspace is supposed to give young dance artists the freedom to fail as well as succeed. Today there are very few possibilities to include a research period in a choreographic process where the artists have a professional team of consultants at hand. Yours truly have plenty of unpaid individual share in these projects and a studio which I place at their disposal. The projects still require funding from other instances, and the he size of the projects and the number of performances are adjusted accordingly." Solveig Leinan-Hermo
