Et stykke liv (A piece of life)
Trine Saltermark
Performance outside... …in any kind of weather
It might seem like nobody was using their heads when a premiere of a dance performance is set to be outside, even though all the locals know that the guaranty for low wind, dried grass, and a comfortable temperature is just as likely as a banana plantation at Sennalandet. Even so, this is exactly what festival artist Trine Saltermark plans to do when her performance Et stykke liv premieres this Saturday.
- "We will do this almost any weather. It will be a part of the experience and an exciting challenge", says choreographer Trine Saltermark
This year DanceFestival Barents introduces something new to the festival; a festival artist. The theme for this year’s festival is Dance on film, and Trine Saltermark has taken the challenge. Saltermark is one of the few dance artists that is experiences with both choreography and film. During the festival it will be her task to give the shoppers of Hammerfest a possibility to stop and experience how the town can be used in a new way. A new story told in old, familiar surroundings. The Town Hall’s white wall will be used as a screen to show video, which is featured in the performance.

- "The performance is about forgiveness. To give a sincere apology or to be able to receive one. This is an aspect of human relation is always a hot topic", says Trine Saltermark.
- "If you listen to radio or watch TV you will discover that everything revolves about this aspect of life: Are you able to forgive? It sounds so simple, but for most people it can be quite difficult to forgive. Also the little things in life."
Et stykke Liv is a performance full of contrasts. From the chaotic to the almost harmonic. Reflecting on the theme through abstract elements and suggestions.
We are crossing our fingers for the weather showing itself from its harmonic side for one day.
