About the performance

A real-life story of an Icelandic 50 year old father-of-three who dared to realise his dream of dancing contemporary dance onstage. An award-winning show which began it's global tour in 2014.

Ármann Einarsson, 50 years old, lives in Akureyri in North Iceland. He is a music school teacher, father of three and holds the Icelandic record in triple jumping since 1979. In 2013 he revealed to his daughter-in-law, choreographer Brogan Davison, his life-long desire to perform contemporary dance, ideally on stage, although he has never had any proper dance training. And so he and Brogan together developed an award-winning contemporary dance piece, celebrated first by local audiences and then at international festivals all over the world: is dance really for everybody?

About Dance For Me

Dance For Me is a performance group based in Reykjavík lead by actor/director Pétur Ármannsson and dancer/choreographer Brogan Davison. Davison and Ármannsson have presented their work in Canada, Germany, Finland, Norway and the UK in venues including Mousonturm in Frankfurt, Tampere Theatre Festival and the BIT Teatergarasjen in Bergen. They recently became part of the N.O.W. network, a European research and development project for performing arts, including partners such as the Lókal Theatre Festival Reykjavík, Fabbrica Europa, Terni Festival, WP Zimmer in Ghent, Trafo Budapest and Extrapole Paris.
