In an easy-to-follow way, Steen explains principles related to movement in time and space, and gives examples of how meaning can arise in dance and how dance affects us purely kinaesthetically and physically.
Steen draws on examples from both her own experience of dancing, but also from being in the audience herself. The stories and examples are taken from the work of several well-known Norwegian as well as some international choreographers. The performance lecture is therefore also a kind of easy-to-follow historical introduction to dance, but is primarily designed to open up how dance can be experienced, understood and felt in different ways.

Performance lecture - the meaning of movement was developed and premiered in January 2013 on behalf of Dance Information Norway and Kedja, Writing Movement and has so far been shown in Bærum Kulturhus, for authors in Oktober Forlag, at Dance House Norway/ CODA in 2013 and at DanseHallerne in Copenhagen in 2014.
In the demonstration, Cecilie presented renowned choreographers' contributions to the development of dance and gave both an insight into how she worked with performing as a dance artist and what moved her as an audience member. She argued that body and language are inseparable and, through her flashbacks, gave us a vocabulary to talk about the performance and experience of dance. Cecilie Lindeman Steen, Graduated from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Khio) in 1985.Steen has worked as a dance artist for over 30 years, mainly in the independent performing arts field, with the exception of two years in Carte Blanche, as well as engagements at Riksteateret, Rikskonsertene and Det Norske Teateret. She has participated in well over a hundred productions, as well as individual performances, improvisations, events and concerts, which includes national, Nordic and European tours.In addition to her own projects, Steen has collaborated with a large number of choreographers and other artists. Since 1984 she has worked closely with Ina Christel Johannessen. For the past 5 years she has worked with Eva Cecilie Richardsen, Kristina Gjems, Shanti Brahmachari and Mia Habib, among others. Since 2015, an important part of Steen's artistic work has been linked to the adaptation / performance of several of Janne-Camilla Lyster's choreographic scores.
Steen received the Dancing Information honorary award for his work as a dance artist in 2017
