Is it equally easy for everyone to express themselves?
Balansekunst
Thursday 7 November 13:30-15:30, Museum of Reconstruction
CANCELLED DUE TO SICKNESS
Many are reluctant to express their opinion. Some believe that political correctness makes it difficult to speak out. Others believe it is a bigger problem that minorities do not participate as much in the public debate for fear of incitement. In this course, we will talk together about freedom of expression, power and space for expression.
Should offensive opinions be published in the media so that they can be countered? Can heterosexuals define what are funny or offensive gay jokes? Is sharp disagreement an expression that freedom of expression is working? On this course, Balansekunst will present key concepts and figures and statistics about harassment, before there will be room for reflection and discussion on topics such as freedom of expression and anti-discrimination.
The course is held by Marit Emilie Meidelsen Øvrebø, Project Coordinator (Northern Norway).
Maximum number of participants: 25
Registration: Maria Stephansen: maria.stephansen@dansefestivalbarents.no
