Are we all dreamers and weavers who dream and weave our lives, our world, our universe into being? What is reality and what is the real world? Is it only here, where we walk the earth?
In Vever/Gođđi/Weaver we collaborate with each other, our attention and our intentions to create our common reality. We want to sow seeds of what is beautiful, what gives hope, we want to see, to listen, to each other, to the fabric, to history, to all that is, then we can live in the present and create. Along the way, we try to balance so we don't fall or hurt ourselves, the tissue or each other, but we also want to push limits, maybe even go over some. In dreams and in weaving, everything is possible.
WEAVER is a performance art piece that explores potential, which through exploration, presence and play takes dreams and weaving seriously.
Artist Marita Isobel Solberg uses Gođđi / Vever / Weaver as a starting point in the weaving technique of Rátnu-grene (warp-weighted loom), a tradition she grew up with in her home village of Manndalen in northern Troms. Here, the technique was taken care of and continued and the place has over time been highly recognised for this. The weaving becomes the starting point for exploration, musical interventions, philosophising and play when Marita, in collaboration with Stellaris' dancers, will use a 5-metre high loom.
Production technician/Carpenter Tobias Aputsiaq Prytz Consultant and assistant Judith Marie Solberg Performers Marita Isobel Solberg, Nazaré Soares, Ekaterina Nikitina and Maya Mi Samuelsen
The work is the opening of DanseFestival Barents 2024 and will be changing through 3 performances during the festival. The performance art work is supported by Dáiddadállu and the Arts and Culture Norway. Sámediggi, DAVVI/Raske Penger and Stellaris DansTeater have supported the performance during DanseFestival Barents.
