ROCK ME BABY
ØYSTEIN ELLE/CAPTO MUSICAE & KARSTEIN SOLLI PRODUKSJONER
Saturday 9 November 17:00 Ole Olsen salen, Arktisk kultursenter.
Rock me Baby is a new dance and theater concert for the youngest children between 0-5 years. It has been developed in collaboration with the ensemble consisting of musicians, dancers and designers.
In Rock me Baby, the audience encounters an expression rarely experienced in performances for the youngest. Heavy rock riffs, catchy melodies, poetic soundscapes and absurd performances characterise the performance, creating excitement among the core audience, older searchers and the adults who are with the children in the theatre. With a visual expression, references and stylistic features from the world of rock, both adults and children are challenged to experience and take part in what art for the youngest can be? In a safe environment and, of course, completely within an acceptable sound level.
Rock me baby's ensemble is put together as a band with a total of five male performers on various band instruments, dance and vocal expressions. Within the glam rock and poodle rock of the 70s and 80s, the boundaries between genders became less clear. The artists often appeared with an androgynous expression. This is a historical trend the ensemble in Rock me baby explores and relates to as liberating from the norm of what gender is / gender can be.
Solli and Elle have previously created several shows for young children that have been very well received, talked about and shown both nationally and internationally
Kjell I. Nordstrøm, known to many from the entertainment series Maskorama on NRK, has designed the show's spectacular costumes.
"the costumes show both young and old that it is permissible to be a man in any way you want in this world."
(Review Periscope 23.03.2023)
With Rock me Baby, a hand-picked ensemble with a solid dance, theater and music background invites young and old into a completely unique universe.
Length: 40-45 min (no interval)
