Yohei Hamada: Yokai, or dance yet defined

Dance artist Yohei Hamada, from Japan and currently based in Røst, is sharing a sketch of his new project exploring how to relate to the unknown. The performance will be a duet between Hamada and a new version of his handmade tensegrity structure. He has been working with structures made of sticks and ropes or elastics for over a decade. With new versions of tensegrity, called “Island Cells”, he plans to make a series of research and performance projects. “Yokai, or dance yet defined” will be a pilot project of the series.

Maya Mi Samuelsen – MAMMA MIRA!

A project inspired by life as a mother. The title is inspired by my eldest daughter, whose name is Mira.
How can I juggle life as both an artist and a mother, and can I include my children in my work?

I want to explore the possibilities of bringing my children to work with me. Can they be performers alongside me? Or the audience? Or can I be their audience?
I want to explore the roles we can have together and for one another. How can I create activist art for and with the very youngest?

I want to create a performance for children in which I retain my activist style and political focus, but approach it in a different way. A performance for a sustainable future, created for those who are our future. I want to create awareness and engagement around nature and the environment in a playful, child-centred way.

I want to make use of the fact that I have the youngest possible target audience close at hand and create a performance for them and their parents.

Target audience:
Children from 0 to approximately 6 years old, as well as parents, guardians and grandparents.
Estimated duration: 20 minutes.

Riikka Kosola: One Day I Died

This autofictional work is rooted in corporeality, memory and transformation. It explores how the body can carry experiences that the mind does not yet have access to, and how memories sometimes only become accessible when the body is ready to allow them to surface.

The script is based on a personal experience of living with an invisible underlying medical condition, love, and the primitive response — triggered by oxygen deprivation — to survive at any cost.
Psychological abuse and sexual assault are part of the work’s themes, and the performance is therefore not suitable for audiences under the age of 18.
